Bringing Together Exascale and Cloud I/O

Abstract
Many challenges need to be addressed when realizing future storage architectures and APIs for accessing them. Future exascale system will feature a significant increase in concurrency, which is expected to bring currently used parallel file systems with their POSIX interface to its limit. At the same time, new requirements for enabling new science arise as data is becoming a key element of future discovery work-flows. This leads to the need of bringing together scalable compute capabilities, as well as federated data infrastructures. In this session we want to explore future directions to enable storage architectures and corresponding APIs beyond POSIX, which allow for both, access from scalable exascale architectures, as well as access through interfaces optimized for data sharing as observed in cloud.
